Letter From The Board Of Directors

LBA Registrar

Dear Litchfield Baseball Parents and Players,

The Litchfield Baseball Association (LBA) Season is just around the corner.  We want to extend a warm welcome on behalf of the entire Board of Directors to our returning baseball families, as well as to all new families to our League and our community.

At a time when children have many sports and activities to choose from, we are thrilled that a number of children between the ages of four (4) and twelve (12) will chose to play baseball in LBA. LBA has been part of our community for decades, providing a positive environment for the development of sportsmanship, character, and athletic skill among our baseball youth. Our program puts an emphasis on fundamentals, participation, development, teamwork, safety, family involvement, and fun, all while developing an appreciation and love for the game of baseball. As parents ourselves, we know what a thrill it is to see your child play for the first time and watch them grow and improve through the years. These are memories that we will all cherish and we are pleased that you too will enjoy watching your children learn baseball and grow as part of the LBA family.

The Board is constantly working to improve our league and make it the best it can be for the kids in our community.  As such, one of our goals is to always improve on communication.

Board Membership

First, we would like to extend a warm heartfelt thank you to Kurt Schaefer, our outgoing president and newly appointed vice president, who has guided LBA for the past three (3) years, as president. Through Kurt’s tireless hard work, dedication and efforts he has renewed the LBA program and our fields.  Without his vision, the program would not be where it is today. Also, we would like to extend a warm thank you to our 2018 Board Members. We applaud each of you for the time you have given so freely and the sacrifices each of you made to help make LBA a well-respected league, within the surrounding communities.  With that said, we would also like to welcome our 2019 LBA Board Members, some of whom are new, and some who are past board members. The sacrifices of everyone’s time and efforts, including your unwavering dedication to this league, are greatly appreciated.

Board Positions

Do you want to get more involved with our League? Help make our League even better and show your support? Would you like to be involved and be part of the Board?  There are still a few Board positions available, if you would like to assist in the running of our league. We welcome everyone, as it is our volunteers that make us such a great program. Please contact us at if you are interested.

LBA is 100% self-funded and 100% run by volunteers. It is our volunteers that make our program great and we call upon everyone to help out. Volunteering your time only goes to further the betterment of the players within our league, so please don’t be shy -- just ask any board member, “How can I help?” Help comes in many forms such as; coaching, concession stand workers, field maintenance, help get sponsorship, etc.   No matter how you volunteer, we are confident you will find it is one of the most satisfying things you can do for your kids.

Our income comes entirely from registration fees, fundraisers, the concession stand, and sponsorships. Our expenses include uniforms, equipment (catchers gear, baseballs, etc), utilities, insurance, field maintanence and umpire fees. So, it comes down to our parents, board members and volunteers to put in the effort, like those in the past, to continue to raise funds for the league’s financial needs.

We are still in need of sponsors for our 2019 season to help with our program costs.  Do you know a local business owner who is interested in supporting their community? What about a restaurant your family visits regularly, a salon you have been visiting for years, a local mechanic, realtor, or that contractor/repair man you recommend to all of your neighbors? If you do, please contact us at, to get a sponsorship package/form.

Our New Field Justin Bissett Memorial Baseball Complex Is Coming Online In 2019!

As we are sure many of you have heard about and seen, over the past couple years, we are building two (2) new fields on Jeff Lane. These will be known as the Justin Bissett Memorial Baseball Complex. This venue will house our Minor League (9-10 year old) field and our Major League (11-12 year old) field. Initially the fields had a completion date of April 2017; however, due to unfortunate set-backs and delays, due to lack of volunteers, and the enormous undertaking of work, we did not meet that date.  Despite these setbacks, we will complete the project, which was the vision of Kurt Schaefer, in the near future, and will be utilizing these fields during the 2019 season.

Our league is truly a wonderful place to make and share memories with kids, families and friends. We are set for another fun and exciting baseball season and there is no better place for a family to watch a baseball game. Your children will always remember their time and experiences at LBA and we look forward to seeing you all out there on the field or in the bleachers being a part of LBA!!
